Abstract
This case presentation delineates one possible role the infant psychiatrist can play in the care of infants suffering from severe medical illnesses who are hospitalized for long periods. It describes the process of liaison with many professional groups who treat such children, highlights some of the difficulties inherent in this work and provides some possible answers to such problems.
